The
latest statistics from the HSE show that Musculoskeletal disorders
are by far the most commonly reported work related illness.
Agriculture, Construction, Health Care Workers and Manufacturing
topped these statistics with between 5.2% - 6.5% of all illness
being associated to this type of injury.
The
Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, the Manual Handling Operations
Act 1992 and the Reporting of Injuries, Diseases and Dangerous
Occurrences Regulations 1985 (RIDDOR) place a clear duty on all
employers and employees to provide or undertake training in manual
handling and report any associated injuries.
This
half day course is certificated for 3 years and students receive a
course manual for later reference.
